What to Expect

After our phone conversation or email exchange we’ll give you an appointment time along with a checklist of items we need you to complete before our arrival. That checklist varies by case but usually includes the following

  • Moving bed at least 12 inches away from walls
  • Confirming our electrical requirements are met (Our equipment consumes a lot of electricity, we will walk you through what to look for)
  • To reduce the risk of spreading an infestation, we suggest clients do not move items out of a room before their appointment.  Leave everything in the room.

During the heat treatment, temperatures will reach over 125 degrees. This is a lethal temperature for bed bugs and their eggs but not hot enough to damage most things. However, a few items will need to be removed or prepared.

The following heat sensitive items should be removed from the treatment area AFTER our inspection. Again we’re looking to contain the problem, not spread it.

Pressurized cylinders – Spray cans, Fire extinguishers, oxygen bottles, etc.

Firearms and ammunition

Paints

Adhesives

Cigarette lighters

All flammable chemicals

Arts and crafts assembled with hot melt glue

Soft vinyl items

Vinyl records

Vinyl window blinds – If they are not removed, pull all the way up.

Items that may be damaged by air blowers:

Decorative items or picture frames that are not securely attached to the wall may damaged by air blowers. Please secure or remove from wall and place on the floor.

Light, delicate belonging may be blown about and broken. Place delicate items in storage boxes to prevent damage

Stacks of papers should be contained

Electronics

Laptops, Desktops, tablets, tv’s and remote controls should be left inside treatment area.

Electronics must be unplugged and powered down. We’ll make sure not to aim any high heat currents at your devices.

All occupants and pets must remain out of treatment area for their safety and to ensure efficacy of the treatment.

During Heat Treatment

After inspection and preparation of the room, we place Wifi temperature probes in the coolest parts of the room and the areas likely to shield bed bugs from lethal temperatures. These probes and our hand-held laser thermometers allow us to precisely monitor surface temperatures in the treatment area. We also periodically enter the room to move items around for better heat circulation and a more thorough treatment.
Cabinet doors and dressers drawers will be opened (and left open) after the room reaches desired temperatures. Items in the drawers/cabinets may be manipulated during heat treatment to ensure all items reach temperatures for bed bugs.

After the room reaches lethal temperature, all mattresses, cushions, upholstered furniture will be propped against walls and moved to allow heat exposure to all surfaces.

After Treatment

While the room is cooling, we will install our proprietary countermeasure to trap any bed bugs that may have survived before they can return to your bed. Our tech will conclude the service with a “Things to Remember” checklist before leaving. We accept Visa, Mastercard, and Cash.

When room has cooled to comfortable temperatures, client can begin clean up and return of mattress, box spring, and other furnishings to their original location.

Life returns to normal!
